Layland man acquitted in Fayette child abuse case

A Fayette County jury found Gregory Stickler not guilty of beating his former girlfriend's infant, Ellis Avis, who suffered severe injuries. Co-defendant Sheila Morales was convicted last December. she is facing a new trial as the state pursues a ruling on that motion.

Summersville hydro project rehearing denied by FERC

The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission denied rehearing requests by Debra Matthews, Martha Morrison, Audra Dietz, and others including the Mount Nebo Mount Lookout Property Protection Association and the American Whitewater Association. The denial rests on lack of a proper motion to intervene and no material changes to project plans or license terms.
