Bridge Day sets world record jump at New River Gorge
Sixteen sky divers, split into groups of twelve and four, jumped simultaneously to cap Bridge Day celebrations at the New River Gorge. Ed Trick of Petaluma California, who joined last year’s record run of eleven, called this year’s event more spectacular as over 300 BASE jumpers from around the world gathered for the day long festivities.

Fayetteville Bridge Day draws huge crowds and vendors
World travelers joined locals for Bridge Day in Fayetteville West Virginia as two lanes of the New River Gorge Bridge opened for walkers. Estimates ranged from 100000 to 170000 with some vendors claiming higher totals. Visitors praised the event and vendors reported brisk sales across more than 180 booths along Route 19.

Byrd stresses positive role models at BBC-BBA dinner

Railroad Days shines on first weekend with train excursion
Thousands of rail fans and townspeople gathered in Hinton for the inaugural Railroad Days festival. Temperatures in the upper 70s and a sunny sky framed a street fair along Temple Street as the 1 p.m. excursion train from Huntington arrived, drawing crowds and selling out fully. The C P Huntington train, a Pullman private car once owned by Harold Van derbilt, was staffed by Dale Smith and backed by the railroad society. The train stayed about three hours before departing at 4 p.m., marking a historic kickoff to the new festival.
