Wyoming senior centers to receive upgrade funds
Wyoming County Council on Aging Inc and All Care Home and Community Services receive 175000 for Itmann Center and 20000 for Elk Lick Center from the Legislative Budget Digest. Funds fund drainage, paving, generators at Itmann, Elk Lick adds a new Internet enabled workstation for seniors. Mercer man indicted on federal gun charges
A federal grand jury in Charleston indicted John F. Hale Jr., 43, of Princeton, on felon in possession of a firearm charges. Hale faces up to 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine with three years' supervised release if convicted for possessing a .22 caliber pistol on or about August 1, 1996, after a 1994 McDowell County conviction for failure to remit unemployment assessments.

Lewisburg doctor sentenced for hydrocodone fraud
Dr. John W. Beard Jr., 43, of Lewisburg, received five years probation and a $5,000 fine in Beckley federal court. He pleaded guilty to obtaining hydrocodone by fraud by writing prescriptions in others names and having the drugs dispensed for his use between 1996 and 1997. He must perform 50 hours of community service.
