Monroe school board expels two students over threats

The Monroe County school board expelled two 15 year old Peterstown Middle School students for threats and discussed the failed 3.2 million bond levy. The levy failed by 414 votes with 1495 against and 1081 in favor, while three precincts passed it.

Family Escapes Injury in Glen White House Fire

A Glen White family narrowly escaped injury when a fire destroyed their home on state Route 54 across from J&J's Packette early Tuesday. Teddy Gerald and at least three other residents were awakened by smoke as a log rolled from brush burning toward the vinyl siding. Firefighters from Sophia Area VOFD plus Lester, Trap Hill and Sophia city crews extinguished the blaze by 4 a.m. and revisited at 11 a.m. due to rekindle. no items were saved and no smoke detector was found in the home.
