Wavely L Toney 70 of North Beckley died Saturday May 16 after a short illness. He was born October 22 1927 in Sprague son of Harvey and Jennie Toney. A miner in early years he later worked as a mechanic at Bowl Wick and at Eareharts Auto before retirement. He was a member of Welcome Baptist Church. Survived by wife Ann Mayfield Toney four sons Rickie and Wavely Cheatwood of Cleveland Ohio Carl and Tommy Saunders three daughters Tina Toney Valissa Toney and Costance Jones two sisters Elizabeth Dillard and Elnora Austin and an uncle Frank Toney of Charleston 13 grandchildren nine great grand children and many nieces nephews and friends. Burial at Stanaford Cemetery Stanaford. Friends may call 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Welcome Baptist Church. Summersville obituary notes follow.

Red Cross in Raleigh County seeks blood donors before Memorial Day
The Red Cross faces a critically low blood supply in Appalachia with Memorial Day near. Dianne Cordial of the Raleigh County chapter says 300 donors daily are needed across 44 counties though current collection is about 80 percent. The drive seeks O negative, A negative, B negative and O positive donors at 100 Industrial Drive on Tuesdays 3 to 6 PM and Wednesdays 1 to 6 PM. Greenbrier Valley drives run in Ronceverte Rupert Community Building Marlinton United Methodist Church with noon to 6 PM hours. call 1-800-553-6735 for details. Donors must be 17+, 110 lbs+, reasonable health, and can donate every 56 days. each donation helps about four people.
