Moment of trout derby joy at Moncove Lake
A West Virginia conservation officer recalls May 3, 1997, when a wheelchair bound boy caught his first trout at the Moncove Lake derby. The moment, seen by volunteers and officials, underscored gratitude, normalcy, and the impact of helping others. Sylvester, a DNA conservation officer in Monroe County, reflects on the life changing event and urges readers to assist those in need.
