PSD seeks PSC approval to take over subdivision sewer plant
The Crab Orchard MacArthur PSD and Stevenswood Homeowners Association ask the state PSC to allow PSD to operate the association's package plant and sewer system. DEP fined the HOA $5000 for permit violations but the fine was dismissed to fund system improvements. The PSC hearing is set for 1 p.m. August 3 in Raleigh County Court room. Milam notes PSC offers better service at about $25 monthly versus the HOA's $3. The PSD sees more subdivisions seeking takeover due to stricter environmental rules and operator costs.
