Nursing home offers overnight care for Alzheimer patients
The Hebrew Home for the Aged in Riverdale started Elder-Serve at Night giving dementia patients a night of activities from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. while families get relief. The $75 nightly program serves Bronx Manhattan and nearby Westchester with supervised nights to reduce sundowning and disruption at home.

Self-help author Buscaglia dies at 74 known as Dr Hug
Leo Buscaglia the bearded USC educator and author of Love and Living Loving and Learning died at 74 in Glenbrook Nevada from a heart attack. He popularized love classes at USC in the 1970s and wrote more than a dozen books selling millions worldwide. His work included Love 101 and The Fall of Freddie the Leaf was adapted into a ballet. He began in Pasadena special education and later taught at USC.

Swimming lessons begin at Greenbrier State Forest
The American Red Cross offers swimming lessons starting June 22 at Greenbrier State Forest. Two daily 45 minute sessions run 9:30 and 10:15 a.m. Monday through Thursday for two weeks with Friday mornings for makeup. Beginner and intermediate tracks, preregistration required, costs $18 children and $26 adults. Lifeguard training starts July 6 at 6 p.m. 33 hours, $93 includes all textbooks and fees. Beckley Recycling Department will skip Ward 1 pickups on Friday June 19 and Friday July 3 to honor West Virginia Day and Independence Day. Ward 1 recycling will be collected on June 22 and July 6 instead. Normal pickup for Ward 1 resumes Friday July 17.
