Harper Road chosen for Beckley convention center plan
Beckley should adopt the Harper Road site for a convention center reports say Harper Road is the best location. The final study links 21 full time jobs and $9.42 million payroll over 12 years plus $5 million in hotel revenue and $1.5 million in retail gains. It argues armory delays, poor highway access, and limited nearby hotels hinder meetings. Stakeholders urge public private funding, tax measures, and use of local hotel networks to market the center.
