Lewisburg man named state's top cop for major case work
Sgt. M E Spradlin of the Lewisburg state police detachment has been named West Virginia Top Cop by the National Association of Police Organizations. He led a 2 1/2 year investigation into Marybeth Davis, whose children suffered illness then died or were injured in 1982, establishing Munchausen syndrome by proxy and resulting in a murder conviction. Spradlin also earned Trooper of the Year honors from the West Virginia Troopers Association.
