Residents celebrate victory over disputed power line plans
Residents of Monroe Summers and Mercer counties and local officials gathered Saturday to mark eight years of citizen action that halted a proposed 765 kilovolt transmission line from crossing farmland. Appalachian Power Co. now American Electric Power proposed the Roanoke Va route eight years ago.

Two lives, one woman linked by theft and disguise

Rockefeller meets residents on Medicare in Lindside

Man pleads no contest in voter registration case
REG. Herald regional editor Harry Beale chose to end the Fayette County case by entering a no contest plea to two misdemeanor counts of alteration of records. Ten other indictment counts were dismissed. Beale said the decision reflected cost and not admission of guilt, maintaining he is innocent and unable to afford further fight.
