Salt debate divides experts over health benefits
Washington experts remain split on cutting salt intake after decades of research. A Science survey of 80 researchers shows strong opposing views, while federal guidance urges 2,400 mg daily to reduce strokes and heart disease. Some studies find only small benefits, others larger links to blood pressure, prompting calls to balance salt with overall diet.
