Fayetteville debates historic district zoning plan
The Fayetteville Planning and Zoning Commission hears a proposed amendment to the municipal zoning ordinance to designate a large part of Fayetteville including the downtown as a historic district. The commission will report to the town council next Monday on adoption. The measure limits development and governs alterations to existing architecture to preserve buildings. Mayor Tom Woodrum stresses preservation over demolition and retaining Gothic gingerbread features.
