Malpractice Trial Over 1993 Leg Injury Opens
In Raleigh County a jury hears opening statements in a Wyoming County woman's medical malpractice suit against orthopedic surgeon Andrew Landis for allegedly improper treatment of a broken leg in January 1993. Rosemarie Shrewsbury seeks compensation for medical costs and pain. She testified Landis kept her in a cast and walker for nearly a year before another surgeon performed open reduction. The defense argues Landis acted reasonably and cites a Harvard-educated expert. Shrewsbury faces preexisting conditions and depression claims.
