United Way 1998 Campaign Exceeds Goal by Narrow Margin
At a March 26 appreciation dinner United Way of Southern West Virginia announced a final 1998 campaign total of 301,975.90, surpassing the $300,000 goal thanks to hundreds of contributors and the drive of volunteers across Fayette Raleigh and Nicholas counties. Leaders cited winter weather as a hurdle but noted strong support from JC Penney, AEP and Bell Atlantic and announced plans to begin preparations for the 1999 campaign.
