Rainelle mayor ordered to sign over deed to Rite Aid property
Rainelle Mayor Eric McKenzie was ordered by Greenbrier County Circuit Judge Frank Jolliffe to sign a deed granting Dodson-Hager Ford an abandoned street and alley to seal a lease with Rite Aid. The ruling upheld the ordinance abandoning Pennsylvania Avenue and an adjoining alley but criticized the $999 consideration. McKenzie indicated he would sign, despite disagreement with the decision.

Monroe County man pleads guilty to setting house fire
Lindside man William Merrill Chapman, 35, pleaded guilty Wednesday to setting fires at three homes and burglarizing two others last year. He admitted arson at Tommy Booth's house and burglaries at James Belcher Jr. and Bobby Shockley's residences. Chapman remains jailed until a May 4 sentencing.
