Unemployed laborer arrested in Chico rape murder case
Aden Rohrbaugh Miller III, 23, was arrested Thursday after hitching a ride on a Butte College bus on Highway 32, charged with the rape and murder of Patricia Catherine Farish, 18, whose nearly nude body was found near a Chico State fraternity house. Two Chico State students aided deputies by spotting Miller from a newspaper photo. Miller was barefoot, had frostbitten feet, and was booked in Oroville on the murder charge after hospital treatment.

Slaying linked to Pioneer Week party at Tau Gamma Theta
Deputies traced the case to a party Monday night at the Tau Gamma Theta fraternity during Pioneer Week at the College. Miller attended the gathering and an all points bulletin was issued after an informant tipped authorities. A borrowed car was found abandoned at a campground east of Chico. Mrs Farish was recovered with her skirt missing and blouse pushed up, bearing small tattoos on hip and thigh.

hazing incident leads to Forest Service sentence for Pierce College brothers
Three Chi Chi Chi fraternity members at Pierce College were fined and given 60 days probation and 10 days of work for hazing a student who died after being driven into Angeles National Forest. Fred Bronner, 21, was abandoned on a mountain road and later found at the base of a cliff. The defendants pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor hazing charge prohibiting acts that injure or degrade fellow students.
