Top rodeo hands like Marty Wood Bill Smith Shawn Denis Larry Mahan and Dean Oliver are expected to enter the Red Bluff Round-Up at Tehama County Fair grounds April 21 22 with $105 000 in Winston Rodeo Awards money to be distributed during the 1973 season. The Winston program resets after June 4 and funds top five in six events including saddle bronc bareback bull riding calf roping and steer wrestling. Crime rate drops in 1972 first in 17 years FBI reports
FBI figures show the overall crime rate fell 3 percent in 1972 the first decline in 17 years. Violent crimes rose 1 percent with rape up 11 percent while robberies fell 4 percent. Property crimes declined 3 percent including auto theft down 7 percent and burglaries down 2 percent.

ITT Tried Recruiting CIA to Back Chile Opponents

Final POW group completes Vietnam War releases
The last group of 67 U S prisoners of war arrived at Clark Air Base after Hanoi released 604 POWs, signaling the end of hostilities 61 days earlier. Among those freed was Alfred Agnew of Mullins South Carolina who spoke for the POWs as crowds cheered. One remaining captive, Army Captain Robert Thomas White of Newport News Virginia, was said to be released next week. Some fliers freed had injuries from December bombings.
