Kansas wheat farmers and New Jersey officials blame big oil firms for fuel shortages. AAA bureaus in California and Iowa report about half the stations cut hours. Canada halts gasoline and heating oil exports to the U.S. as of midnight. Amoco in Chicago reports a May daily crude processing record. Hunt Oil of Tuscaloosa starts a 13.5 million project to triple output in 18 months. Burlington County asks for a federal probe into possible cartels.
Washington (UPI) an administration spokesman says Nixon's new economic program could trigger price rollbacks in major industries. James T. McLane says the IRS will audit firms that raised prices more than 1.5 percent since January, naming electrical equipment and chemical industries among those likely investigated.
Red Bluff High School trustees call a special meeting at 4 p.m. today in the district office to discuss personnel matters and a salary increase effective date, officials said.
Jeb Stuart Magruder testifies before the Senate Watergate committee claiming he told H. R. Haldeman about the full Watergate conspiracy early in 1972. He named John Mitchell and John W. Dean III as approving the bugging and covering up the affair, while admitting prior grand jury perjury and detailing witness cooperation.
The California State Board of Education approved James L. McCary’s Human Sexuality for seventh and eighth graders on a 7-1 vote after trimming it from 164 to about 82 pages. Lt. Gov. Ed Reinecke warned the text could incite experimentation and unwed mothers, while Sen. Harmer criticized its treatment of family values and alleged aberrant sexual behavior.

John R. Pence, Tehama General’s new consultant, told the Tehama County Hospital and Safety Commission he is optimistic about achieving provisional accreditation this year. The Joint Commission survey is planned between July 16 and August 15, with Pence urging policy manual completion, a new administrative secretary, expanded services, radiologist recruitment, and master policy insurance. A preliminary budget of 712,390 for 1973-74 was approved, and the commission withheld 3,398.50 for unfinished security cell work by Lindeman.
The Senate voted 67 to 15 to bar further U S involvement in Indochina, backing President Nixon’s main ally Hugh Scott who said he would support Cambodia bombing for only two more weeks. Scott gave the White House until June 30 to ensure cease fire adherence in Paris.
