Woman Dies in Red Bluff Fire at 837 Jackson Street
72 year old Lyma May Growney of Red Bluff perished as a blaze gutted her home at 837 Jackson Street. Guest Miss Hill, 20, smelled smoke and tried to investigate before heavy flames trapped her. Firefighters from Red Bluff arrived with two trucks and 35 men, finding the fire started in a bedroom and burning about 90 minutes before alarm. Mrs Growney survived by two sons George Growney Jr and John W Growney, both of Red Bluff. Rosary is set for tomorrow night and a Requiem Mass will be held Wednesday at Sacred Heart Church with burial in Oak Hill Cemetery.
