Viet Cong three day cease fire for Christmas began at 1 am Wednesday after three apparent terrorist incidents in the Saigon area. Four civilians wounded in explosions in Cholon and Gia Dinh. two Viet Cong suspects arrested in Cholon. Allied bases not attacked. 24 hour truce declared by South Vietnamese government. Major clash reported near the Cambodian border as 1,000 government troops engaged enemy forces in the Mekong Delta. 68 enemy killed.
The Corning City Council set a tentative public hearing date of January 26 at 8 p.m. for annexation of property on old 99 W. They approved raising uniform allowances for police to 100 dollars per officer per year and reviewed curb and gutter projects.
California has asked the U.S. Supreme Court to review a state high court decision that struck down the state abortion law as too vague and lacking sufficient reason to regulate abortion. The appeal follows a September state court ruling and notes that thirty seven states ban abortions except to save the mother's life.
Floyd Edgar Bateman a Washington man was found guilty of carrying a firearm by an ex convict in Tehama County Superior Court. He entered an innocent plea Oct. 27 requested a jury trial then waived it and was tried by Judge Curtiss F Wetter.
