County Attorney Leslie Humphrey filed suit in Henrietta seeking $12,000 from the Texas Brewing Company of Fort Worth for state and county occupation taxes. He claims the firm solicited liquor sales via mail in Clay County for two years.
Three American marines were slightly wounded when insurgents fired on their train near Mahaya as they moved toward Granada. The marines reached Granada where the local populace faced severe hunger amid the conflict.
New York Sept 21 The Comptroller of the Currency announces that after October 1 examiners will investigate the assets of country banks in the presence of the board of directors.
Seymour dispatch reports Taylor county has ordered a local option election for October 12. The action was announced in a Sept 21 update, outlining the referendum to determine liquor legality in the county. Local residents will vote on October 12 under county supervision.
Austin September 21. Commissioner of Labor Statistics Harling announces he will file suit against each railroad found wilfully violating the air brake law. He vows enforcement as violations are detected.
R. B. Coon sold his 25 section ranch at Rhema in Dallam County to the Finish brothers of Memphis for 100000. The transaction includes lease of seventy sections of adjoining land and the ranch will be stocked with high grade cattle.
The Northeast Texas Editorial Association formed in Greenville on Friday with about forty editors in attendance. H. P. Nelson of Greenville was elected president and Wilbur Keith of Paris chosen as vice president.
Washington reports heavy fighting near Barancas as Rear Admiral Southerland leads 2,600 Marines to clear the National railway route to Granada. A Sept 17 telegram says marines were fired upon while opening the road, amid scarce details from the field.
The thermometer registered 52 degrees at 6 o clock Saturday morning and rose to 58 by 10 o clock. The day was clear with sun warming the cool air, making it invigorating.

In Amarillo on Sept 21 the man identified as J Benji Sneed’s mysterious aid is B B Epping a farmer from the Sneed ranch near Paducah. Epping was arrested near Quanah by the Cott ee county sheriff and admits aiding Sneed but denies knowledge of a plan to kill Al G Boyce. He was named by Dr Gilvin and L J Kendrick as sources for his house and shades. A train arrival in Quanah from Amarillo at 624 Saint d4yevany links him to the tragedy.
In Amarillo the two inmates Epting and Sneed are held in separate portions of the jail and forbidden from contact. One witness notes he slept with Sneed only the day of the tragedy. Epting is described as a stranger to everyone in the city.
During an electrical storm in Hondo on September 21 W Cruse Turner approached a porch hydrant and drank. Lightning struck as he drank, igniting his clothing. the flames were extinguished when his body fell under the hydrant.
Gov. Wilson, returning from his first major campaign swing, said he was struck by the people's friendliness. He noted plain citizens gave him cordial, accessible reception and that there was no offishness in their greeting.

The North Texas State Normal College reports 574 students enrolled Saturday morning with many still to register. President Bruce says attendance matches last year despite higher freshman standards and a four year program replacing the old three year plan. He expects Sophomore and Junior classes to be as large as ever, with the freshman loss offset in future years.
In Collinsville on September 21 a Rogers County deputy sheriff Carl Searr was killed and Sheriff Sanders wounded in a gun battle with bootleggers. The officers had seized a wagonload of liquor and were transporting it to town when three men arrived and opened fire.
In a clash near Caney Kansas yesterday shots were exchanged and United States enforcement officer R L Bowman was killed. The report notes a similar firefight occurred earlier in the day leaving Bowman fatally wounded.
Associated Press reports in Hot Springs Arkansas that the Schepps statements hearing scheduled for today was postponed until Monday. The move affects expected testimony and may alter proceedings slated for this week.
