Houston dispatch reports a severe shortage of railroad labor affecting cotton movement. Roads tied up equipment as crews cannot unload and push the cars, with several compresses near choke points unable to handle loaded shipments.
Seventy thousand dollars in cash for the railroad employer vanished from a Louisville and Nashville train near Pensacola Florida on Wednesday. In Nicaragua a Marine force led by Major Bartlett occupied Masaya after moving from Managua to open the Granada railroad.
About fifty Denton graduates will study away at colleges and universities this year including the University of Texas Texas Christian University Trinity University and others with several in preparatory schools The list names students bound for UT TCU and Trinity plus others from Denton and nearby preparatory paths.
Associated Press dispatch reports fighting renewed this morning on the San Joaquin ranch south of Douglas Arizona between Federal troops and rebels. Elena Orozco 7 year old daughter of General Pascual Orozco Jr appeals to President Taft from Los Angeles seeking clemency for her grandfather facing arrest by Mexico's Madero regime.
Official reports from Mexico City indicate Pascual Orozco is directing rebel operations in Coahuila near Mussuiz where Marcelo Caraveao recently achieved a local victory. Military officers believe Orozco cannot split his forces and may oversee Caraveao’s actions following a federal defeat of about ninety troops.
Sneed and counsel express confidence that bail will be granted him at a Monday hearing.
In Amarillo on Sept. 20 relatives and friends gathered as interest in the Sneed habeas corpus case remains high despite no new developments. Sneed and counsel expect bail, while the prosecution opposes it. Sneed remains silent. disclosures anticipated if the full case is not presented Monday.
Telephone reports from last night’s storm in the Coleman section indicate no lives were lost. Heavy hail and wind knocked out nearly every window pane in Coleman. Ballinger and San Angelo suffered hard blows but escaped tornadoes.
A powerful storm swept through Coleman County causing extensive crop damage and shattered windows in St Anna. Five inches of rain plus hail fell in an hour with broad property losses and no reported deaths. He learns of the Wilson National Progressive League offices opening in New York and sends a wire praising unity among progressives.
Gov. Wilson campaigned in steady rain traveling by train across Michigan. Crowds greeted him at every stop as umbrellas dotted the route and the governor even stepped off the train to shake hands with marchers awaiting him in the rain.
In the Sixteenth District court on Friday only one case advanced. Robrt J. Black et al v Hazeltine Black awarded six-tenths of the land to Hazeltine with one-fifth to each plaintiff. J G Boyd named receiver to sell the land with half cash and half on time. Several civil orders logged. criminal work scarce except pending trial of Ollie Majors for theft. Next Monday to see several important criminal cases.
