Local voters urged to contribute as The Record and Chronicle closes its subscription list Monday. A summary of subscriptions will appear in Tuesday's issue as part of coverage for the Democratic presidential campaign.
The Associated Press dispatch from Washington notes the third cotton ginning report, compiled from Census Bureau data, lists 6 828 841 bales ginned by Oct 18, 1912, with detailed state totals and comparisons to previous years.

Three hundred twenty five C I A students plus eighteen faculty and Dr Bizzell will travel to Dallas Saturday by eight coaches. Alumni representatives and Miss Angie Owsley will attend the auditorium program at the Fairgrounds before attending the A M vs Arkansas game. The group stays together until 11 pm and then tours the grounds with faculty chaperones including Dean Banks and Professors Adkisson and McGinnis.
Marion Holly, a Black man charged with criminal assault on a nurse at Union Hospital, was identified by witnesses but presented a valid alibi. The alibi proved he was not present, and he was released today.

Major Searate and Cuesta of General Feliz Diaz’s staff were sentenced to death by a summary court martial and immediately shot. The execution was kept secret as Diaz himself was to be shot. A hundred alleged insurrectos were arrested today as troops moved toward Tuxpam to engage TM and Te Bel leader Gen. Aguilar near Puebla.
A Federal judge granted a writ removing Felix Diaz from military court jurisdiction. A full court will decide if Diaz faces military or civilian trial for inciting revolt. Government officials say he is amenable to the military court.
Princeton dispatch reports Gov. Wilson will resume his speaking campaign as Col. Roosevelt's recovery is assured. Roosevelt begins active campaign work for the first time since his shooting, dictating letters and preparing a New York speech in Oyster Bay.
A vacant hovel below the oil mill burned Friday morning around 8 00. The fire department arrived quickly after the alarm for District No 1. The lower part of the structure was saved and the loss amount or insurance status could not be determined as ownership had changed hands and the former owner Geo A Godwit could not be located.
W W Decker spoke about The Hearbreakers premiering the 1912 13 Moor man season at the Wright noting strong advance sales and his plan for fewer but better shows. He and brother Carl Decker gained fame for the Morro Castle rescue during the Spanish American War.
The Artel club music department met Thursday evening at Mrs. Will Evers home on West Oak street. Guests included Mrs Sam Alison. Program featured Beethoven the Man by Mrs H G Allen Fidelio story by Mrs W C Kim musical numbers by Mrs Saunder and Mrs Will Evers and selections by Miss Lula Evers.
Police Lieutenant Charles Becker was found guilty of murder in the first degree for instigating the death of Herman Rosenthal. The verdict was delivered at 12:02 a.m. and Becker was remanded to the Tombs for sentencing on Oct. 30. Mrs. Becker fainted in the courtroom. Becker showed no visible reaction. John F. Mclintyre announced a motion for a new trial.
A county court session approved two probate matters. J. T. Campbell as temporary administrator filed and had approved the final account for the estate of C Hoffmeyer deceased. A. W. Robertson guardian for Oberia Robertson filed and had the guardian's final account approved.
A grand jury in Judge Seay's court returns an indictment charging Dallas policeman Tom Woods with aggravated assault on W S Bean. The case stems from an alleged Saturday night attack. An ant s commission order also investigates officer Bates for beating 66 year old Confederate veteran T J Saxon with a billy. The Woods inquiry continues.
TCU defeated Austin College 7 to 4 in a hard fought contest. The University led early and held on as Austin College rallied but could not overcome the deficit.
