The funeral for Mrs. M. E. Singleton, who died at her son W. E. Singleton’s home, was conducted Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 by Rev. M. T. Andrews of Hillsboro First Baptist. Schuyler Graham of Roanoke sang, with piano by Mrs Charles Saunders. Interment followed at I. O. O. F. cemetery after a house service. Pallbearers were G. A. Egan R. A. Carruth T. E. The death toll reaches 225 with 694 injured across Nebraska Iowa Indiana Illinois and Michigan from Sunday and Monday storms. Omaha reports 152 of its 202 dead. other towns include Yutan Glenwood Neola Bartlett and Des Palmes with multiple fatalities and many injuries. Property loss around Omaha estimated at 5 million dollars. 1500 homeless and 8009 buildings damaged or affected.
The Senate passed Bill 10 by a 24 to 4 vote to abolish the Fire Insurance Board. The measure transfers control to the Insurance Commissioner. A Brelsford bill also advanced by the Senate.
The Senate approved abolishing the fire rating board and giving full state insurance commission authority by a 26 to 4 vote. It also passed the Breisford bill allowing corporate incorporation for irrigation and began reviewing closing hours for Sunday entertainment.
