The Swedish submarine sank with its crew on July 2 and was found at depths never before reached as rescue efforts traced its expedition to the ocean floor where the boat and crew were destroyed.
A Swedish submarine on July 2 sank to two hundred feet when tanks filled by mistake. It lay outside the harbor base as water pressure dented the hull and the commander had lead keel detached. Removing the weight let the boat rise to the surface with the crew gasping for air.

Torreon refugees say a large constitutionalist force attacks the town and a small Federal garrison may surrender soon. Six hundred constitutionalists reportedly defeated Navarrete at Lampazos.

City Health Officer Piner said the infantile paralysis cases in Denton are not serious. Of three Denton cases, all are light and recovering, plus two outside Denton cases including a death of a baby near Denton. Typhoid fever cases are few and all cases are recovering well.

Houston July 18 engineer Alfred Tyler and fireman G 3S Montamar both of Houston were instantly killed when the locomotive drawing westbound passenger train No 11 on the Texas and New Orleans railroad exploded while in motion through Fauna. Baggage and mail cars derailed. Several passengers hurt but none seriously.
