Associated Press dispatch reports thousands of dollars in damage across Merit and surrounding areas in North Texas. The Methodist College and Leeson College lose roofs and brick walls, Burleson Baptist College sustains roof damage, and numerous trees and crops are ruined. No injuries reported as wind and rain toppled structures on August 9.
Complete returns show Colquitt with a 38 466 majority over Ramsey and Prom Sheppard with 34 999 plurality. Faji and several thousand votes short of a clear majority over all opponents. Colquitt will have control of the convention.
Reports from 219 Texas counties show Colquitt leading Ramsey in the gubernatorial contest with a 53 530 majority and a 47000 vote edge overall while border incidents near Sierra Blanca prompt sheriff led posse action as Mexicans raid ranches.

Maxey prayed hourly all night, hoping the storm would destroy the jail.
Aug 9 report says A. H. Jones of the Citizens' League won the San Antonio mayoral election by 957 votes to defeat Mayor Pro Tem W. L. Richter, the administration candidate. The new administration backs commission government.

J H Painter brother of Dr F A Painter a Pilot Point physician died Wednesday in Gator Panama from heart failure. The United States government will bring his body to the States with his wife via New York. Remains will be buried in Pilot Point arriving late next week.
