Humphrey Wilson a 45 year old single man working for G A McMakın was struck by lightning while riding in a wagon four miles southwest of Argyle during a violent storm. His young companion Richard McMakin escaped unharmed as were the six horses. The McMakin home suffered wind damage including a displaced foundation smoke house destruction and a twisted wind mill tower. Wilson known locally as Friday Wilson had lived in the Bartonville area for 10 to 12 years and carried a $3000 Woodmen of the World policy. His sister lived in Rockwall county.
