The Missouri State Supreme Court issued an injunction restraining 182 fire insurance companies from canceling contracts currently in force. The court did not stop them from ceasing to write new business in Missouri.
The forecast calls for fair skies tonight and Sunday with temperatures edging upward. No rain is expected and winds remain light.
A call to save earnings to gain independence and a reserve for times of need or opportunity. It urges opening an account with Exchange National Bank, lauded as SAFETY and SERVICE. The bank reports over 2500 patrons enjoying security and service, with new accounts being solicited.

A Montenegrin representative in London was instructed to protest the European powers demand for immediate evacuation of Scutari. King Nicholas denounces the demand as unjust and cruel.
Ambassadors of the Powers delivered a formal demand for the evacuation of Scutari to Montenegro's government. Montenegrin ministers deferred consideration until after Easter. An emphatic negative is expected, prompting the conference to decide on coercion or Austrian action. King Nicholas has proclaimed possession of Scutari amid Austrian war preparations.
The County court opened its second week of the April term with Civil docket cases. J F Drahn and Edgar Kerr vs Gulf Colorado and Santa Fe Railway Co went to trial before a jury. Motions to transfer three damage suits to Federal court were overruled. Kerr case continued. Corn cases continued. Cardle vs Missouri Kansas and Texas continued by plaintiff. Sam McKinney pled guilty to three gaming table charges, fined $25 and 10 days in jail per charge. Aggie Myers, 46, Pilot Point, deemed insane on lunacy writ, released on $50 bond pending asylum placement.
In the house representative Sissons declares a jingoistic stand against Japan urging that if war is required they must go to war. He frames submission as indignant and presses for strong action.
Secretary of State Bryan arrived in Sacramento to confer with Governor Johnson and the California Legislature on antialien land holding proposals. Johnson planned a joint session to receive Bryan’s message, calling it grave in importance and international in character. In Washington, Representative Sisson urged war if nonresident aliens may hold land in the United States.
Washington April 28 President Wilson appointed Geo Downey of Indiana as comptroller of the treasury.
Washington April 24 The general tariff debate will end tonight in the House and the bill will be taken up Tuesday under the five minute rule. It will be read paragraph by paragraph for detailed amendments with a prospect of passage within ten days and longer Senate consideration to follow. Democratic opposition to free wool and free sugar after three years is not expected to gain strength though a few Democrats have been released from caucus pledges.
Washington reports that political developments in China make immediate recognition of the new republic unlikely. The delay stems from a fight in the Chinese assembly over the speaker choice.
An early morning fire at the Alkire place home of Luther Terry destroyed the house killing an infant and injuring five family members. An automobile party passing by discovered the blaze and woke the sleeping family.

Attorney General Looney advised Comptroller Lane that paid life insurance policies drawing annuities are subject to taxation. This is the first time the question has been raised.
Large numbers of refugees at Vadalia face displacement as a major crevasse widens rapidly. The breach in the main line levees floods thousands of acres of rich farming land in northern Louisiana, triggering emergency measures.
In Vadalia Louisiana April 28 reports say the Gibsons Landing levee crevasse is nearly half a mile wide and rapid erosion. More than six thousand flood refugees have been evacuated from Tensas and Concordia parishes as waters spread across rich farmland.
The Lake St. John levee near Ferriday Louisiana collapsed, unleashing flood waters across Concordia and parts of Catahoula Franklin parishes. About 20 000 people face displacement as 900 square miles flood. no loss of life reported.
