Otis Henry Rapp of Vienna near Parkersburg died in Vienna Thursday from a heart condition after six months ill. Born December 2, 18__, in Pomeroy Ohio, he was a retired miner who moved from Oak Hill to Vienna earlier this year. Surviving: widow Pansy, sons James Earl Don, all of Ohio, and daughter Marjorie Sheals of Oak Hill. Funeral 2 p.m. Saturday at Thomas Funeral Home Chapel, burial High Lawn Memorial Park.

Five Patients Admitted To Wyoming General Hospital
Five people were admitted to Wyoming General Hospital after accidents Thursday. Herold Shriver, 51, Itmann mine, suffered a fractured foot when a rock fell on his back and foot at 3:40 am. Donald Dawson, 11, Caloric, broke his left leg after falling from a monkey bar at recess at school at 11:30 am. Michael Davis, 3, Pierpoint, was admitted at 10:55 am after swallowing a bobby pin. Curtis B. Helmondollar, 33, Covel, required treatment after stepping on a wall at the Deerfield mine. Maranda Bivens, 39, Matheny, fell injuring her right wrist. Family members listed include Art and Ted, brothers in Cleveland and San Fernando, and sister Mrs. Marie Slater of Morgantown.

The state health department will deploy a Mobile X-Ray Unit in Boone County from September 9 to October 4. Coal River Residents Raise Cane For Sorghum
Coal River residents celebrate a sorghum season as drought conditions boost cane yields. Kenner Thompson ran the mill at Harlow Stover’s farm and then Jim Allman’s, producing about 150 gallons of molasses. Neighbors spent evenings around the mill, sharing stories while a mule powered the extraction pole. The job finished last Friday and the revaporator was stored for next year in the Coal River Valley.

The Mount View Parent-Teachers Association met to organize events for the year to fund a $1,300 hard top ball court with Raleigh County Board of Education approving half the cost. A Halloween Carnival is set for November 3 at Mount View School. A pupil and parent membership drive was launched with prizes for top fundraisers. The band will be taught from Oct. 11, transportation costs covered by the band mothers. Committees were formed for planning, programs, refreshment, and finance with a postmeeting visit to classrooms.
