Herndon RNS reports the Methodist Men's Club of the Herndon Methodist Church and wives host a tacky party at Mr and Mrs Curtis Short Tralee at 6 pm Friday. Plans were announced after the club dinner where Albreay Winesett reported 173.32 dollars raised for the building fund from an August ice cream supper.

Miller Child Dies in Cleveland Hospital
Robert E. Miller aged 5, son of Mr. and Mrs. Dennie Tyree Miller, died in a Cleveland hospital after an extended illness. Surviving are his parents a brother Donald his maternal grandparents Alfred Tyree and Mrs. Mount Hope and the paternal grandparents W R Miller Beckley and Mrs. A Pethey Eccles. Funeral arrangements are incomplete and the body will be returned to Tyree Funeral Home Mount Hope.

Mother and Daughter Burned in Stove Incident
In Gauley Bridge West Virginia Mrs Gertha Carter and her daughter Shirley Workman were treated for burns at Hillside Clinic after Shirley caught her blouse on a gas stove and burst into flames. Mrs Carter suffered a severe burn to her left hand while helping her daughter. The family recently moved to Dixie after their home was washed out near Lizemore Nicholas County and 24 residents attended a meeting in Whitesville Post Office on the third Monday of each month.

Hinton Police Chief Charles Shirey threatened arrests and closures of Sunbeam Grill and Paradise Club after two weekend incidents involving white teenage girls. He said principals and county officials were informed and parents contacted. Officers will arrest all involved if further incidents occur.

Morton Fined After DUI Crash At Oak Hill
James Morton of Harvey pleaded guilty to driving under the influence before Magistrate Robert Godsey in Oak Hill. His license was suspended six months and he was fined 30 dollars after his 46 model car struck Clarence Eads’s 54 model on Route Monday at 4 p.m. Eads, stopping to pick up friends, escaped injury as Morton's car was demolished and damages were about 500 dollars.

Mrs Spicey Williams Services Friday
Funeral services for Mrs. Spicey Williams will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Workman’s Creek Methodist Church with the Rev. Vernon Coots officiating. Burial follows in Workman’s Creek Cemetery. Mrs. Williams, 80, died at her sister’s home in Clear Creek after a long illness. Her body is at Tyree Funeral Home in Mount Hope.
