Mine Chief Coal Sales Ban Slated
The Defense Solid Fuels Administration plans an order to freeze shipments from many bituminous coal mines to build an emergency stockpile amid a looming strike. The order targets mines in the north under United Mine Workers notices and affects roughly 30 percent of national output, with precedence on unbilled loaded cars and post Sept 18 production. Eight regional distribution managers will guide priority allocation based on need and essentiality.
