About 100 patients at Beckley Veterans Hospital enjoyed an hour long variety show Wednesday night by Jan Campbell and his Orchestra. Sponsored by the American Federation of Musicians, the group plans monthly performances by a local band. Don Boyd sang while instrumental numbers featured.
Dorothy Amick reports community notices from Beckley with residents visiting, traveling, and recovering. Highlights include poliomyelitis treatment in Morgantown, family visits in Charleston and Pittsburgh, students at Baylor and Beckley College, travel to New York, and local moves and illnesses.
Crab Orchard and Blue Isla women meet at Crab Orchard Baptist Church to organize bandage wrapping for overseas use. The session included prayers, talks on White Cross work, and plans to sell aprons to fund the treasury. Members host guests, announce travel of members, and note a revival return by the Rev. O A Rountree.

Raleigh County figures donate to Emergency Polio Fund.
Beckley residents attended a Wednesday event for Miss Imogene Farley and Dr. Robert Dan Cunningham at First Presbyterian Church in Charleston. The bride’s mother is Mrs Farley of Hinton and the groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Wilson Farley. Seventeen West Virginia Chapters of the Women of the Moose gather September 23 for Star Recorders Day with Mrs. Hessie Carroll in charge of arrangements.
About 45 members of the Maxwell Hill Baptist Church Auxiliary and First Baptist Church planned to attend the Associational Rally on October 7 at 10 a.m. The meeting featured group No.4 led by Mrs. D W Thurmond, with devotional by Mrs. Don Lilly and a vocal solo by Jo Ann Tyree. Discussions included Negroes Schools and a White Cross dedication service conducted by Mrs. Harry Ballou.
