Action On Gas Rate Reduction Delayed
The Federal Power Commission postponed action on a proposed $2 million rate reduction by United Fuel Gas Co of Charleston. The FPC said the reduction could start Nov 1 but called it a major change not yet justified and said it will reconsider on that date. An affiliate, Atlantic Seaboard Corp, in Charleston, filed a similar proposal lumped with UFG’s. Subsidiaries of Columbia Gas System Inc have applied to cut rates totaling $3.2 million annually, the FPC said.

Point Pleasant West Virginia remains on the list of possible sites for the Atomic Energy Commission's 300 million atom smasher after the first cut in the nomad of possibilities. AEC reduced 41 sites from 126 and sent the shortened list to the National Academy of Sciences for further pruning.
