The Fayetteville Federal Savings and Loan Association will let the contract for a new one story brick and granite building on Harvey Street opposite the post office on October 10. Fayette County Cancer Center Closed Over Budget Deficit
State officials order the Fayette County Mount Hope Cancer Center shut due to a budget deficit after 1957 58 expenditures exceeded the allocated budget. Woody Funeral Set Saturday
Funeral services for Fred Arthur Woody 73 will be at Whitesville Baptist Church at 2 p m Saturday. He died after a long illness. He was a retired coal miner. He is survived by his wife Lucy four sons Gene Travis Bobby William five daughters and many grandchildren and great grandchildren. The body was moved from Valley Funeral Home to his residence and to the church one hour before the service.

Baby Suffocates In Bed In Charleston
In Charleston on the east side a three month old girl named Carolyn Jean Lykins died apparently from suffocation in a crowded bed. Betty Lykins awoke to find the child lifeless as the family, recently moved from Oak Hill, faced poverty with four surviving daughters and the father in a state penitentiary. Authorities cited malnutrition and limited clothing as factors in the distressing case.
