Korean bonus applications open Nov. 1 at Fayetteville American Legion with dates through Nov. 19 to Nov. 9. Veterans must bring a photostatic copy of discharge, not the original, and can apply in person at the Fayetteville post. An Oct. 7 meeting with Alfalfa and officials will explain details for eligible Korean veterans and dependents at Maple Avenue Legion Home.

Revered Weller Couple Feted At Colcord Reception

A reception honored Rev. and Mrs. Jack Weller, pastors of the Colcord Presbyterian Church for five years, on Sunday at 4 p.m. on the Home School campus. Mrs. S. L. Petry served as master of ceremonies and presented about $160 in gifts to the couple, with many community members in attendance and speeches by Petty, Weller, Jesse Wright, and visiting missionary Mrs. Alice Sulzer Donohoe.

Wolfe Accepts Job With Wyoming County Board

Theodore Wolfe of Cabir Creek Kanawha County has accepted employment as a high school teacher with the Wyoming County Board of Education. A former Pineville resident and ex WWYO radio employee, he served in Germany with the U S Army. He attended Marshall College Huntington and earned an A B degree. Wolfe is residing in Pineville while awaiting placement.

Oak Hill Methodists Set Training School

The Ada Callison Circle of Oak Hill Methodist Church called on members to attend a four night training school starting Sept. 29 at the church. Meetings covered program topics, rummage sale updates, and upcoming Society of Christian Service events with hosts and refreshments noted. A Fayetteville USDA rural development area meeting was canceled.

Colcord area notes and school enrollment changes

Colcord residents visited relatives on Sunday. A Columbus, Ohio boy suffered minor injuries when knocked to the pavement by a car, which halted without passing over him. Dorothy Elementary reports 170 students, up 20 from last year, Ameagle Elementary 73, down 25. Ameagle Women’s Club sold hot dogs at Colcord Elementary to raise church funds.

Instructors Named for Girl Scout Training Classes

Instructors for basic Girl Scout training at Fayetteville and nearby areas include Mrs. J. C. Clay of Fayetteville Mrs. Robert Herdon of Gauley Bridge and Mrs. R. A. Updike of Montgomery. Training runs September 16 to 19 at Falls View Grade School with an outdoor session September 28 at Beckwich Camp from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The course is open to interested persons and leaders in Brownie and Intermediate programs who have not yet been trained.

Farm Council Names Officers

Fayette County Farm Women's Council elected Mrs. A. C. Richards Gatewood as president at the Thursday quarter meeting held in the courthouse offices. Other officers are Mrs. Jess Evans Oak Hill vice president Mrs. R. O. Blumer Lookout secretary and Mrs. Clifford Davis Fayetteville treasurer. Plans were made for Oct. 9 achievement day at the 4-H Camp and representatives were named for the state program planning meeting Sept. 16-49 at Jackson's Mill. Dr. T. C Green the state veterinarian spoke on brucellosis and undulant fever from unpasteurized milk.
