In Lewisburg James Desmond Collins faced a preliminary hearing on a murder charge after firing three shots at Howard Martin in Ronceverte. Martin died five minutes after admission from a leg wound that severed an artery. Collins bond was set at 5000 dollars.
Funeral services for Private Robert W. Wilson of Union will be at 2 p.m. in Union Presbyterian Church with Rev. H. H. Grey presiding. Burial follows at Greenhill Cemetery with American Legion Post 100 conducting graveside rites. he is survived by his parents two sisters and three brothers.
Final rites for Captain Lee Edward Waugh are scheduled at 2 30 p m Sunday at Oak Hill Methodist Church with Rev A A Angie officiating. Born Wytheville Virginia September 28 1918 he joined the Army April 4 1941 training at Camp Shelby transferred to Panama then Ft Benning and commissioned in August 1943. He fought in Africa Sicily Normandy and Cherbourg and died July 25 1944 near St Lo France earning a posthumous Bronze Star for gallantry.
France and the purple heart are noted as part of the deceased’s honors. Survivors include his father C. S. Waugh of Oak Hill, three brothers Charles S. Waugh Jr Porjer E. Waugh and Stuart A. Waugh of Fayetteville, and three sisters Mrs James F Royester of Danville Ky Ars Herman Martin of Boormier and Mrs C S Bracken Jr of Gauley Bridge. Quak Hin Post 3110 VFW will manage graveside rites at Highlawn Memorial.
Charleston report recommends payment of 95,065 to Summers County Court and 22 landowners totaling 1,157 acres to be flooded by Bluestone Dam on New River near Hinton as per a federal district court filing.
Survivors include parents one brother Thomas Gerald and sister Brenda Lucille both of Florida and paternal grandparents Mr and Mrs Fuller McClung of Oak Hill The service will be at the grandparents home at 2 p m Sunday with Rev Gilmer H Cross officiating Burial will follow at Bibb Cemetery in Oak Hill The body is due to arrive by airplane Saturday morning.
