Little Beaver Lake Declared Potential Health Hazard

Beckley-Raleigh County Health Board kept Little Beaver Lake in the potential health hazard list but allowed continued access through Labor Day. Board actions included progress on White Stick Creek sanitation, a plan for a regional health center, and steps toward solving a mosquito problem near the Veterans Administration Hospital. Coliform testing identified contamination sources near a bait shop and nearby houses, with officials noting sewage disposal limits and the need for a full sanitation system to prevent seepage into the lake. The board adopted its name as Beckley-Raleigh County Health Board.
