Oak Hill boosts drive with student help and local clubs

Oak Hill residents rally for the Fayette County Community Chest with 24 students and volunteers from the Rotary and Lions clubs collecting in Oak Hill and nearby areas. Local leaders expect to hit the quota despite challenges as the drive continues and officials plan a close by November 8. In Fayetteville the Rent Control Office moves to the Thayer Building marking a county office for the OPA with rent control extended to Boone and Summers counties and new areas under ceilings. James Parks will oversee registrations as the Fayetteville branch opens tomorrow.

Fayetteville Timber Worker Injured in Lumber Accident

Oak Hill Hospital treats Oak Hill area worker OAK Hill Richmond 56 of Fayetteville after a lumber accident yesterday at about 10 AM. He suffers fractures to his arm pelvis and ribs with facial lacerations while employed by C P Garten.

Jodie Man Held in Theft of Billfold

Paul Hendrick of Jodie is held for grand jury action on a charge of stealing a billfold containing 300 from Clarence Paul Chambers of Gauley Bridge. Magistrate W S Kessler set bond at 1500 and the defendant was committed to jail in default of bond. Deputy Sheriff A H Buchanan arrested him. The offense is alleged to have occurred October 21st.

Beards Fork 4 H Club Renames Unit at Meeting

At a Beards Fork 4 H Club meeting the group voted to rename from Beards Fork Victory to Black Diamond. Itmann Man Refuses Prosecution After Bus Terminal Injury

Nub Adkins 29 of Itmann told officers he did not want to prosecute after being found unconscious behind Mullens bus terminal shortly after midnight. He recovered from a fractured skull and said he was struck en route to the terminal.

Pineville Man Henry George Dies After Stroke

Henry George a 60 year old Pineville resident and World War I veteran died in Huntington Veterans Hospital after a paralytic stroke. The Bluefield carpenter had been a patient since Saturday with funeral and burial planned in Bluefield. Surviving are a daughter two brothers C A George Pineville and Otey George Rhinefield two sisters Mrs Alex Sutton Tampa Florida and Miss Stella George Bluefield and a niece Mrs J W Martin Pineville.
