WOAY-TV Opposes Channel 8 Translator Plan
WOAY-TV manager R. R. Brown says the Oak Hill station will oppose WCHS-TV of Charleston applying to the FCC for a Beckley translator on Channel 8. The proposed site is west of US 19, about 1.1 miles north of the US 19 21 intersection, transmitter power one watt. Brown expects WOAY to seek assurances the translator will serve the community fully, arguing WCHS already serves much of its market and cannot meet added public service demands. He notes stations must have close rapport with communities they serve, and WOAY could serve Charleston as well as WCHS serves Beckley.
