BERER Ky AP John L Gay longtime mayor of Berer town with 3,500 residents died Sunday in a Lexington hospital at age 94 He became mayor in 1910 when the town adopted a new government form and had previously served as justice of the peace and police judge.
Los Angeles AP reports star Errol Flynn will be buried today after arriving from Canada. Widow Patrice Wymore asks the casket stay closed as fans once mobbed the actor at union stations. The funeral at Church of the Recessional in Glendale will precede a Forest Lawn burial under Reverend Kermit Castellanos. Letters Flynn wrote to Beverly Radland were published by her mother.
A new brush fire in Los Angeles area is believed arson driven and spreading rapidly. Authorities report a dark sedan speeding from both fires as fresh crews bring total firefighting forces to about 3,000 in Angeles National Forest. In Hannibal Missouri police captured a man after a high speed chase following a rape of an 8 year old girl. Charles Harold Burch 29 of Decatur Illinois identified himself as the suspect. The victim was assaulted and later released near a farmhouse.
Sacramento AP report states Governor Edmund G. Brown refused clemency for Daryl Chessman who has spent 11 years on death row and faced execution on Friday. The decision confirms the upcoming capital punishment date and concludes the statewide clemency effort.

Mrs. Harriet Stover 84 died at 7:40 am at her daughter’s Beckley home after a fall that fractured her collarbone. Born Sept 11, 1875 in Lincoln County, she was widow of Burdine Stover and survived by four sons Azel Cecil Virgil and Malcolm, a daughter Lucy Toney, a sister Evelyn Nolen, a stepsister Virginia Massey Boone, a stepbrother Winford Massey, 30 grandchildren and 37 great grandchildren. Funeral plans are at Melton's Mortuary.
Lincoln County authorities planned to question Lendisy Napier of Kinksville Wayne County today about the stomping death of Jinks Ramey of Ranger. Napier held without charge pending autopsy. fight over a debt near Virgil Ramey’s home. Ramey stomped after being knocked down. his wife Kesslene beaten as she fled with four children.

Donna Rule aged 12, missing since Sunday from Clark National Forest near Potosi, was found alive three miles from the disappearance site. She wore a light dress, shivered but was in good condition as more than 400 searchers including 150 soldiers aided the rescue and her parents cried with relief.
Five members of a single family died in a fiery crash on U S Highway 99 about 10 miles north of Palm Springs California. A young man, his sister and two of her children were thrown from the car when it lost a tire and flipped over a divider then struck another vehicle and burst into flames.
