Raleigh Club Spotlight Highlights State Crippled Children Program
Mrs. Mae Sullivan Stratton, head of the crippled children division, told Beckley Woman's Club members in Raleigh county that 101 children have been treated since 1929 and 54 more are regulars. She noted county cooperation, Rotary transportation, and a state staff of ten surgeons now salaried with federal funds. The program began in 1929 with 40000 dollars yearly, later rising to 90000, and is expected to aid about 1400 children this year. Performers Clifford Waterman Jr and Hilda Holz entertained with piano and vocal numbers, followed by a social refreshment hosted by club members.
