Matherly Bostic collision case goes to Raleigh jurors

In Raleigh County Circuit Court the trial of Frances Matherly of Sophia versus James Walter Bostic of Sprague over a May 1 1971 rear end crash on U S 21 near Beckley Child Care Center went to the jury around 10 30 am. Judge Lilly recessed for lunch at 12 00 with no verdict. The plaintiff seeks damages for a broken shoulder arm and leg injuries from a high speed impact claimed at 70 80 mph. Bostic defense argues Matherly failed to keep proper lookout and that 45 50 mph was safe. Jurors toured the accident scene before testimony.

Two Jailed In Taylor Shooting Free On Bond

Two men charged in a Price Hill shooting involving Thomas B. Taylor 27 were released after posting bond. Charles Edelen posted 5000 dollars and waived to the grand jury on felonious assault while Marlin Edwards posted 1000 dollars and waived to the grand jury on being an accessory to felonious assault. Taylor remained in fair condition at Beckley Appalachian Regional Hospital. The incident occurred after a dispute at Billys Truck Stop. Edelen also faced intoxication charges and Edwards a drunken driving case with additional firearm and concealed weapon charges.
