Scenic Highway construction bill seeks large federal aid
A Thursday bill proposes about 27 million dollars for scenic highway construction on public lands. About 95 miles pass through Monongahela National Forest, eligible for 100 percent federal financing with the remaining 65 miles on a 50 50 share. The route would run from Germania Grant County to Richwood Nicholas County. The measure also earmarks roughly 9 million dollars annually for the next two fiscal years for Mountain State roads. New Bible Translation Aims For Sense Over Word Age
New translation seeks sense for sense rendering rather than word for word. Orlinsky notes revisions reflect fresher archaeological and linguistic data from the Near East. The work updates archaic English while preserving poetry, stating Moses and Israelites crossed the Sea of Reeds, not the Red Sea, in a marshy area north of the Suez Canal.
