Scenic Highway Outlook Brighter in West Virginia
A Senate House conference committee approved an $18 million increase for public land road construction, boosting the proposed 160 mile Highlands Scenic Highway from Germania in Grant County to Richwood in Nicholas County. Two Men and 24 Hogs Die In St Albans Wreck
Two men died when a tractor trailer carrying about 50 hogs crashed into a utility pole on West Virginia 17 near St Albans. Victims were Jess Wheeler 36 Springfield Ohio and Donald Boniface 28 Indianapolis. Wheeler was the driver with Boniface as his assistant. They were pinned in the cab for about two hours and died at Thomas Memorial Hospital. About two dozen hogs were killed in the wreck.
