Economist predicts stable cattle feeding outlook and higher feed supplies
Ohio State University economist R B Schwarz forecasts a record 202 million tons of feed grains and concentrates for the coming feeding season, about 12 percent above last year and 17 percent above the five year average. Hay supplies also rise, potentially lowering costs if feeding intensity remains moderate, but higher hay use keeps feed per animal steady, leaving cattle feeding profits in 1956 similar to 1955.
