Fayette School Board Rejects Large Bid for East End School

Fayette county board of education rejected a $72,115 bid for constructing an elementary school in East End Oak Hill. The board called the bid excessive and declined to reaward to the submitting firm, with plans to readvertise the project.

Fayetteville board approves installing gas and telephone in the study for Rev. C. W. Paskel, the new pastor who arrived from Bramwell in 1931 ministry service across several counties. He will keep study hours 9 am to 12 noon daily and can be reached at 197. The meeting also appointed officers and referred surplus church items for disposal.

Woman Mary Massie Dies After Long Illness in Fayetteville

Mrs. Mary O Massie of Jumping Branch died at her daughter Ora McGray’s Fayetteville home at 2 15 AM after an extended illness. Born May 10 1865 in Raleigh County she was a Missionary Baptist and survived by seven sons and numerous grandchildren. The body remains at Alley Funeral Home pending arrangements.

Fayette County Vocational Trade School Retained

Mount Hope Women Host New Members and College Course

The Mt Hope Junior Woman's Club plans a tea on October 28 from 2 to 4 pm at Miss Bolty Thompson's home to welcome new members. War widow Mary Rombow to rebuild after fire

Fayetteville war widow Mary Rombow received a $63 donation from American Legion Post 1, bringing her total aid to about $263 since the Sept 25 blaze that destroyed her home. She already had $200 from the post and $20 in other donations, with only a $1,500 bank loan insured. The funds are to start rebuilding as she seeks additional support.

Seven Wyoming county veterans discharged last week were injured in a Peach Creek automobile crash. Luther Napier Jr. of Hatcher is treated at Logan General for a broken leg and other injuries.
