Quadruplets Born To Grandmother in Australia
Sydney report says Ethel Hudson a 38 year old grandmother gave birth to quadruplets a boy and three girls at Gilgandra Hospital 326 miles northwest of Sydney. Mother and babies are said to be well weighing from 2 pounds 13 ounces to 3 pounds 13 ounces. The flooding family lives in two tents two miles from Gilgandra. Father E R Hudson a 40 year old fencing contractor quips about buying another tent.

New Antipolio Vaccine May Be Ready Next Year
SAN FRANCISCO says Joseph F. Nee national fund raising director for the March of Dimes. A new antipolio vaccine made from monkey kidney tissue may be ready for next year’s epidemics after small scale tests succeeded and larger trials will begin soon. The tissue is said to contain three major polio viruses and would be given to patients in diluted doses.

Rain Halts New Forest Fires in District 4
Rain cooled the district but did not extinguish all fires. District forester Carl Lucas said 25 fires remained out of control, burning in holds across Raleigh, Fayette, Wyoming, Mercer, McDowell, Greenbrier, Summers, and Monroe counties. The largest Raleigh County fire near Fireco, about 800 acres, was brought under control after starting Friday.

An unidentified visitor to Beckley visits Clarence Cook, manager of the Beckley Hotel, to return a towel she took seven years ago. She has since joined a church. The towel, found wrapped in a newspaper, was said by Cook to be in "like new" condition, appearing to have been washed few times.

GMS President Dies Of Accident Injuries
Col Houston B Moore 74 president and former superintendent of Greenbrier Military School died at Greenbrier Valley Hospital in Ronceverte after a fall July 6. He led the school from 1906 then retired as active administrator but remained president. A director of the West Virginia State Fair and former vice president of the Association of Military Colleges and Schools, he was born April 30 1879 in Randolph County. Funeral arrangements pending with service planned in Lewisburg Wednesday.
