West Virginia Sets One Franchise License for All Local Biz
Tax Director James Maynard explains the 1970 law reducing licenses to a single annual business franchise certificate per location. The $15 fee applies to most operations grossing $1,000 yearly, while under that threshold registration is required but payment is not. Certain farm and charitable sales are exempt, and penalties for noncompliance are set at 50 per month but waived during the transition.
