Daniels coon hounds tree cat in Beckley tale reel
Everett Pittman and Cyrus Clark from Daniels took new coon dogs out to test them but after two hours the hounds treed a blue Maltese cat instead of game. The tale continues with election day mischief at the Tosh Farley home and quirky local lore about Dr. Koch’s lamp built from a German rifle and helmet. A tax ticket from 1859 links to the sheriff Henry M. Riffe, nicknamed Great Uncle Hen.
